[VIRTUAL] Penn Symposium on Social Implications of Autonomous Military Systems

May 24, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Hosted by the GRASP Lab & Perry World House.

This one-day symposium will integrate campus-wide expertise on the technical underpinnings and social implications of autonomous military systems, including lethal autonomous weapon systems (LAWS) with the purpose of inspiring subsequent, cross-disciplinary efforts at a number of peer institutions across the world. The intended aim of these symposia is to develop an international body of scholars who might bring appropriately integrated disciplinary knowledge to bear on the prospects for international treaties and ethical codes that protect human welfare amidst the rapidly developing technologies of robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) and their application in military systems.
