“ROBOTS: INSPIRED BY NATURE” at the Philadelphia Science Festival

Thursday night, the GRASP Lab will be featured as part of Robots: Inspired by Nature. Gavin from Dan Kodistchek’s lab, Justin and Denise from Dr. Vijay Kumar’s lab, and a guest from Drexel will be presenting robots that are inspired by nature, partnered with Biologists speaking about their partnered animals. Sometimes the solutions to modern challenges are right in front of our eyes. Scientists and engineers showcase how nature can inspire answers to complex problems with a few special demonstrations. Get up close with a swimming fish robot and a flying robot that can grasp like a hawk!.  Hear how the motion of bacteria can be used to help humans. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “When nature has work to be done, she creates a genius to do it.” Maybe it’s best we take a little advice from Mother Nature herself.
